Chris Mills, Gizmodo:
As I recently discovered whilst trying to teach my roommate about torrenting – educationally, of course – downloading illegal stuff off the internet still isn’t the easiest thing in the world. Bitport is a website that’s trying to change all that: it will find, download, and stream your torrents to you, all with a stupid level of security and ease.
Now that The Pirate Bay is effectively gone (but not dead), torrenting has become a little less straightforward for most. Bitport offers a great service.
I think 2015 will be a big year for BitTorrent. A few high-profile adopters of the distribution format could not only change the way entertainment industries view the technology, but how those industries choose to share their work as well.
It’s similar to YouTube in that way. Users were uploading music videos there because they weren’t already available. Now YouTube is the first place consumers visit to see officially uploaded music videos.
If record companies and movie studios follow that method of distribution, officially provided high-quality content, we could all see a less-taboo and more convenient usage of BitTorrent technology.
