Empty Houses: Pop Punk Kids with a Motown Sound

Jono Diener, Noisey:

An unexpectedly soulful side project from the members of Fireworks.

Dave Mackinder and Adam Mercer of Fireworks have started a new project with vocalist Ali Shea. If you’re familiar with the work of Fireworks, this might surprise you. It’s hard to put a finger on the main source of inspiration, but I pull a low of 50s and 60s pop vibes from “Far Away.” It’s all very Motown.

It’s cool to see respected members of the pop-punk scene introducing their fan base to a style of music they probably weren’t familiar with before.

You can download the band’s EP here for as little as a buck.
