Sometimes, amidst the collectables, references, and RSS feeds that encircle my entire life, I find myself forgetting that there is a new Star Wars film on its way. Then I’m reminded and the warmth and familiarity that I experience when I catch glimpses of the forthcoming film washes over me. That feeling makes me so incredibly… happy.
Instead of another trailer or teaser, the Star Wars camp gave us something better at the San Diego Comic-Con. For everyone crowded into Hall H, and now everyone seated in front of their screens at home, a glimpse behind the scenes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was delivered packed full of nostalgia and the promise of something truly great.
“In J.J. We Trust” is a phrase coined by YouTuber HelloGreedo that I think we can all stand behind. With a cast of familiar faces and promising newcomers—as well as an abundance of practical effects—I firmly believe in the production of Episode VII. I think the Star Wars fandom is in for a real treat, prepared by a team that cares about what made the franchise great to begin with.
Star Wars is coming back in a very real way for me. It’s surreal.
