Congratulations on Your Opinion
We’re all experts on movies. We love them, we freeze-frame them, and we react to them. And our reactions are our opinions, and our opinions are us. So we feel that they are important.

And we are wrong.

I wise post by Stu Maschwitz. He claims everything about movies are someone’s opinion, making ours irrelevant. He makes a good point about about our reactions being valid, while our opinions are useless. He’s right. A movie is made how it’s intended to be made. We can’t change that. All we can do is decide whether or not to like the movie once it’s done.

This is something I think everyone struggles with online. Everyone is a critic, but we’re not all good ones. Understanding that reactions don’t require others to be wrong is a good first step in becoming one.
